Carola voted one of Sweden's most powerful women
Today, March 8, is the International Women's Day, and to celebrate it, Expressen has published a list over the 50 most powerful, smart, funny and influential in Sweden. Carola is no 45 on the list with this explanation:
"25 years after her breakthrough, Sweden's biggest diva plays in a league of her own. La Carola completely ignores all notions of what women are not supposed to do"
Carola wore a different dress at the last rehearsal before Saturday's Andra Chansen competition in Kiruna. The dress immediately got some media attention for being very short and maybe more revealing than what we are used to see Carola wear. If Carola in fact will wear this dress during the TV-show tonight remains to be seen.

Carola filled the church in Kiruna last night. The church has a capacity of 800 people but many more squeezed into the old church to listen to Carola sing. During the concert, Carola performed "Blott en dag", "Genom allt", "You've Got a Friend" in a duet with Jakob Samuel from the Poodles and "Längtan" with Nordman. Andreas Johnson sang his 1999 hit "Glorious". Approximately 70,000 sek was raised for charity.

Don't miss this funny skit with Carola, Andreas, and Nordman poking fun at the rivalary reported in the media. For those of you who don't understand Swedish, in this video Carola and Andras first try to create a conflict between the two guys in Nordman, that later lock Carola and Andreas in a room to get rid of the competition.
Carola and Andreas competes against Nordman in the Swedish Song Contest on Saturday.
Yesterday, Carola and Andreas had their first rehearsal at Artic Arena in Kiruna where Andra Chansen (Second Chance) of the Swedish Song Contest will take place on Saturday. The rehearsal revealed that Carola and Andreas have made some minor changes to their performance. Carola will start the song sitting on a chair and at one point, they will walk towards the camera, with their backs towards the audience. The media that attended the rehearsal had only good things to say:
Edward af Sillén, Gyllene Skor:
"Damn, they're good! 'One Love' just gets better, just like Carola and Andreas. Carola has obviously been watching their performance from Västerås and seen where they went wrong. Now, she brings her energy down and don't follow Andreas as much. They are safer and more secure, which means sexier and cooler. (...) 'One Love' will surely qualify to the finale."
Carola has invited other artists from the Swedish Song Contest to perform in the church in Kiruna tonight. Mats Wester and Håkan Hemlin from Nordman, Jacob Samuel from The Poodles, and Caracola are invited to perform.
The performance will happen tonight at 7.00 pm, during the ordinary sermon, and will be free of charge.

Happy 25th Anniversary from Carola International
Today it's exactly 25 years ago a 16 year old girl named Carola Häggkvist entered the stage of Palladium theater to perform her song "Främling" for the first time. It was the Swedish Song Contest and Carola was the last artist to perform. That night, a star was born. "Främling" received the maximum score from all jury groups and won the Swedish Song Contest. In the Eurovision Song Contest, Carola ended up at no 3.
Carola's debut album "Främling" that was released the same year is the most sold album in Sweden ever. Her first tour created chaos and had record number audiences at almost every stop.
Since then Carola has become Sweden's only superstar. She won the Swedish Song Contest three times, the Eurovision Song Contest once. Every album she has released has sold Gold, platina or multiple platina in Sweden. Carola has received a medal from the Royal Highness the King of Sweden, won the Guldmasken Award for her role as Maria von Trapp in "The Sound of Music", played in "Les Miserables" at London's West End", and worked with international superstars like Andrea Bocelli, Burt Bacharach and the BeeGee's.
Carola International would like to say Happy 25th Anniversary to Carola and all her fans, and we look forward to all the great things ahead!
