Interview in Helsingborgs dagblad

From Helsingborgs dagblad:

"Carola is an idol for many, both children and grown-ups. She receivs lots of mails from fans, and many of them want to meet her.
Do you have time to answer all of them?
- No, it's impossible to be there for everyone.

Do you have to think a certain way when you are an idol?
- I try not to think about it. I have to be able to be myself. That's why I became an idol. It is important that I stick to what made me a role model for others, and for me that's the music and God.

Do you have an idol?
- Yes, it's important for me to have some. Barbra Streisand (American singer and actress) and Elvis have meant a lot to me. But they are more like role models than idols.

Why?
- An idol is someone you adore. A role model is someone with a personality and character that you admire.

What role models do you have?
- Many. Often it's everyday people, specially women, who have a purpose with what they're doing. Like my neighbor for example, who has seven children.

Did you have an idol when you were a child?
- Hmm. No, I really don't think so."

This is from the Spanish Song Contest Misión Eurovisión's official website:

SIX INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS VISITED MISIÓN EUROVISÓN YESTERDAY

Last night's semi final became a "Mini Eurovision Song Contest" in which we could see two performances with the Eurovision winner Carola. Slovenia, Malta, Moldavia, Norway and Poland presented their songs in Eurovisión Mission.

Carola opened the show with "Invincible", the song which gave her the fifth position in Athens last year. Recently, the Swedish star received a medal from the King Carl Gustav given to professionals from different fields in recognition of their successes.

The artist has represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest on three occasions: in 1983 she came third with the song "Främling". In 1991, she won in Rome with "Fångad av en stormvind". In 2006, she returned to the Eurovision Song Contest and ended up at fifth place with her song "Invincible".

In her conversation with Paula Vázquez, Carola told us that she is working to help orphaned children of Africa, whose parents have died of AIDS. At the end of the show she performed the English version of song with which she won Eurovision Song Contest in 1991; "Captured by a Lovestorm".
