Today, the album "Melodifestivalen 2006" is released in Sweden. The 2xCD album includes all 32 songs from this year's Swedish Song Contest.
For the last few years, the albums with the songs from the contest, have all become huge successes, and it is very likely this album will enter the Swedish sales charts at no 1 next week.

Last week the betting firm Ladbrokers changed Carola's odds for winning the Swedish Song Contest to amazing 1.01, but yesterday they gave up completely.
Ladbrokers are so convinced that Carola will win that they don't allow you to bet on her victory anymore, as a way of not losing to much money.

Carola talks about "Evighet" |
Carola gives us a few hints about the song "Evighet" and her performance in the Swedish Song Contest on Saturday March 11.
- Carola will be alone on stage up until the last verse. What happens then, she wants to keep a secret.
- She will use wind machines (just like in 1991)
- "It is Swedish pop with a dance feeling to it. It is very 'now' and will work internationally. I thought Max Martin had written it, that's how good it is!"
- "The lyrics are about hearts on fire, about not losing your passion (...) An eternal love that embraces the whole world. Either a love between a man and a woman, or the love of God."

It started as an experiment during the Swedish Song Contest last year, to show the Semi finals and Finale in a few movie theaters in Sweden.
This year the number of participating movie theaters has more than doubled.

Swedish radio station P4 will play the competing songs at 2.00pm the same day as the semi-finals take place. At the same time the voting starts. You can vote by either calling in or sending a sms from your mobile phone. The voting continues the whole day until the live TV-show announced that the voting has ended.
One exception is the first semi-final on February 18, when the songs will be played on radio from 1.30pm.

On carola.com, Universal Music reacts to the article published in Expressen today claiming that Carola demanded to perform last in the last semi finale of the Swedish Song Contest this year.
"Carola has made no demands whatsoever regarding the Swedish Song Contest. What city, and in what running order the artists perform is decided by SVT and the artist is then notified by them.
Carola is truly looking forward to participate in the Swedish Song Contest again!"

Running order announced: Carola no 8 |
The running order of the Swedish Song Contest 2006 has been finalised. Carola will be the last artist to go onstage in Scandinavium March 11, and the last song in the whole competition.

SVT has now announced all the four jokers that will participate in the Swedish Song Contest 2006:
Semi final 1: Andreas Johnson "Sing For Me"
Semi final 2: Magnus Carlsson "Lev livet"
Semi final 3: Bodies Without Organs "Temple of Love"
Semi final 4: Rednex "Mama Take Me Home"
"Invincible" that Carola will perform in the Swedish Song Contest on March 11 has finally got its Swedish title: "Evighet" is the new title, and Carola has been involved in writing the Swedish lyrics.
Rednex and Magnus Carlsson (Alcazar) are announced as two of the jokers in the Swedish Song Contest this year. Rednex will compete in Gotheburg on March 11 (the same semi final as Carola).
A few weeks ago Bodies Without Organs were revealed as the first joker.
Who will be the fourth and final joker will be announced shortly.
 
The stage for this year's Swedish Song Contest is 33 meters wide and 7.5 meter high
and designed by Mikael Varhelyi who also created Eurovision Song Contest 2000 and the Swedish Song Contest 2003.

According to reports from TT Spektra, Carolas new album will be released in April.
The album "Melodifestivalen 2006" which will include the Swedish version of "Invincible" will be released on March 17.

Did you know that...
- Before Carola agreed to sing "Invincible" in the Swedish Song Contest, she asked the song writers to slow the song down a little bit and add more guitars, to suit her better. Now they are discussing to add one (or two) key chances to the song.
- "Invincible" starts slow, but picks up the tempo as the song goes on. Carola says it sounds a bit like "Genom allt", "My Number One" and ABBA.
- Carola just signed the contracts to perform "Invincible" this Tuesday, November 22.
- Carola will most probably perform "Invincible" with Swedish lyrics, that are under production right now. No later than January 10, the Swedish title must be revealed.
- The Swedish version of "Invincible" will most likely be the first single off Carolas new Swedish pop album, which is scheduled for a Spring release (March or April). Carola has already recorded a few songs for the album.
- Carola also plans to record the album in English for the European market.

Today SVT announced all the artists participating in the Swedish Song Contest 2006, and Carola WILL perform "Invincible" by Bobby Ljunggren, Thomas G:son, and Henrik Wikström.
