Carola sings "Evighet" in the last of four semi finals of the Swedish Song Contest (Melodifestivalen). She qualifies to the finale together after receiving 290613 telephone votes. The second song to qualify is Björn Kjellman's "Älskar du livet" which receives 93574 votes. 3.6 million people watch the show on TV.

The betting firm Ladbrokers were so convinced that Carola would win the Swedish Song Contest that they stopped people from betting on her victory, as a way of not losing too much money.

The single of Carola's entry in the Swedish Song Contest "Evighet" is released in Sweden. The single sells gold and tops the Single Chart, the Download Chart, the iTunes Chart, Sverige Top 30, and the Ringtone chart. Surprisingly enough, "Evighet" is Carola's first ever no 1 single in Sweden.

The 2xCD "Melodifestivalen 2006" is released in Sweden. The album includes all songs from the Swedish Song Contest and tops the collection album chart in Sweden for weeks, selling triple platina.

Carola wins the Swedish Song Contest with "Evighet" even though she experience some problems with her voice (she does not sing at all at the dress rehearsal). After the jury groups had voted Carola was the first runner up after Andreas Johnson's "Sing For Me", but after receiving 437876 telephone votes, Carola is the clear winner with 232 points. (no 2: BWO "Temple of Love" - 202 points, no 3: Andreas Johnson "Sing For Me" - 200 points). 4.2 million people watch the TV show, which is the largest TV-audience in Sweden of 2006.

Carola appears in TV4's "Nyhetsmorgon" and "Bingolotto" plus SVT's "Melodifestivalen 2006 - Dagen efter" as a result of her victory.
