Carola's legendary breakthrough in the Swedish Song Contest, singing "Främling" [L Holm / M Forsberg]. Carola is the first winner in the history of the Song Contest to recieve maximum score from all jury groups.

MARCH 26
The album "Främling" is released.
The most sold album in Sweden ever.
7 x Platinum, awarded the American Ampex Golden Reel Award. More then 1,000,000 copies sold.

APRIL 19
"Främling" enters at no 1 at the Swedish album chart.
It stays on the charts for 24 weeks.

APRIL 23
Eurovision Song Contest in Munich.
Carola "Främling" ends up second runner up after Luxemburg and Israel.
6.700.000 Swedes (83%) watch the telecast of the show, which is a record breaking number. A record still not broken.

SPRING
PR all over Europe.
"Främling" is released in English ("Love Isn´t Love"),
German ("Fremder")
and Dutch ("Je Ogen Geen Geheimen").
An international version of the album is released; "Carola...With Love".

MAY 17
The single "Främling" enters at the no 5 at the Swedish single sales chart, which is its peak position. The single stays on the chart for 8 weeks.

JUNE 24
Carola kicks off her first ever tour in Hede.
Record breaking ticket sales, 26 police men, 24 arrests, 7 reported cases of violence. A number of exhausted people from the audience are pulled over the fence.

AUGUST 7
Last concert of the tour, which is one of the most successful in Sweden ever.
Of 26 concerts, 23 had record breaking ticket sales. A total of 220.000 came to see Carola in concert (8.600 / concert).

OCTOBER  18
The single "Hunger" enters the Swedish singles chart. It peaks on no 3 (Nov 1) and stays on the chart 12 weeks.

DECEMBER 6
The EP "Julefrid" is released and it sells 200.000 copies in a week.

DECEMBER 24
Swedish television airs Carola in Concert.
